The Black Letters

Thu Aug 13, 2009, 9:56 AM
My best friend and I recently started a literary/book review blog - if you're at all interested in fantasy, sci-fi, weird fiction, graphic novels and comics, poetry, historical fiction, classics, contemporary fiction, or any of the above, come by and pay us a visit!

The Black Letters: a blog for bibliophiles

Prints of many of my recent ACEOs (art cards) are now available at my Etsy shop, along with several originals. Take a look if you're interested in owning my work! I also sell knit accessories and various other handmade trinkets.

hey el, i don't think the link to black letters is working on this post.
:iconemera:
Wow - you know, you think I'd have checked that. Thanks so much, Kim!
:iconfaraleigh:
 I haven't heard from you in ages!! How have you been??

"And what is that?"
"Oh, that's just a form of mild dementia."

If I'm not paranoid, something must be wrong.

I've been pretty good. :) One more year in college, and panicking a little over that, but I have some plans, at least. XD How have YOU been? Where are you now? What are you up to?
:iconfaraleigh:
Wow. I feel so behind on things. I've only been doing college (and part time at that) for one year. What are you majoring in? I don't really have any plans... what are yours? I've been fired from some jobs, blown all my savings, visited New Orleans briefly while blowing off work, working on another book, ghost hunting, getting back to reading kinda (with a horrible book), and I've become a security guard. I love my job, though I wish the pay were better!

HEY AGAIN. Sorry for the long gap in answering. Hope you've been well.

Don't feel behind - everyone needs to take their own pace and figure out things in a way that works for them. :) And hey, you can only be young and reckless once.

I'm majoring in biology and minoring in creative writing. I'm planning to go on to grad school in biology afterwards... yup, ambitious stuff. Really it's because I can't think of anything more productive to do.

New Orleans, wow! I've never been, but I really want to. What have you been reading? Still following Dresden Files? I'm glad you love your job - that's so important.

Are you still on AIM ever? I don't get on often, but when I do, it would be nice to look out for you.
:iconfaraleigh:
If young and reckless means sitting around accomplishing nothing, then yup! Only happens once. And only should. If even that.

That's awesome that you're going for biology and creative writing. The more and more I study graphic design, the less I want to do it professionally. I just don't know what I'll do otherwise. Maybe major in English or creative writing? Teach or be an editor? I don't really know. I've even considered Egyptologist, but that would require not remaining here.

I'm currently reading The Tower of Ravens, though I've found some good books. The Assassin's Apprentice. The Bone Doll's Twin. Robin Hobb is the first female author I've found that would qualify as a favorite. And yes, I am of course staying up with The Dresden Files. I don't even know what's going to happen with the next one! It sounds insane.

Oh, I wrecked my car. Like, slid off the road and flipped it. Black Friday on my way to work. That was... surreal. It still doesn't click in my head that it happened, though I'm out a car. I'm planning on picking up a new one Monday.

Speaking of work, it's gone all to hell. The refinery I'm working at sold to another company and all my company's positions except one have been taken over by another security company. My main position is all that's left, but no idea for how long, and I don't even get a fully 40 hours a week in there. I had to get set up at a grocery store for the rest of my hours. However... the new security company has offered me and all the others who have my job a place with them, but my boss is saying they're just screwing with us. They're wanting to hire us on with promises of lots of money only until they can learn the spot, fire us, and replace us with people who get paid less. I don't really know what to do...

I do get onto AIM once in a while. Cabrenolas is me. What's your SN?
